Poetry Drop by Matthew Rohrer

This was the poem of the day from Poets.org today, and I thought it was kinda sweet.  Here it is.  Enjoy.

The Emperor
by Matthew Rohrer

She sends me a text

she’s coming home

the train emerges

from underground
I light the fire under

the pot, I pour her

a glass of wine

I fold a napkin under

a little fork
the wind blows the rain

into the windows

the emperor himself

is not this happy

  1. Ugh…sometimes I seriously hate wordpress.com. The formatting is off, and wp won’t let me fix it. No problem because things like spacing are not important in poetry right? NOT. To see it in its intended format, you can go here – http://www.poets.org/viewmedia.php/prmMID/21957?utm_source=poemaday_111010&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=content&utm_term=poemaday_rohrer_banner
